Saturday 19 Up Sculpt - Creating a cleaner ocean
11 am - 3 pm. Join UpSculpt for a Marine Debris Upcycling Workshop focused on
environmental action, upcycled arts, and sustainability at the Fire Island Lighthouse!
Participants will transform plastic marine debris into miniature sculptures with guidance
from Bri Sander, local artist and UpSculpt’s Director of Education and Outreach.
Family friendly. We will have a separate activity for young children who are not comfortable using hot glue guns. No cost, donations accepted. Walk-ins welcome.

Friday 8 Story Time and Beach Treasures
11am - 3 pm - Join Mary Ellen Sherlock, Children’s Author, of “Beach Bounty” on the terrace. Find beach specimens on her “Beach Scavenger Program” and create a sea glass art memento.
Suggested donations accepted.

Saturday 16-17 Amateur Radio Lighthouse Weekend
Sunday The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club set up their radios to communicate with other radio operators around the world.

Sunday 7 Grandparents Day
Spend the day with your grandchildren at the Lighthouse. Grandparents climb the Tower for free. Children must be 42” tall to climb.
Saturday 13 Lightkeepers Behind the scenes Tour
9 am – Follow one of our present day Lighthouse Keepers on his rounds. This bottom to top tour takes you from the auxiliary generator and Light Keepers workshop in the basement of the Keeper’s Quarters to the beacon in the lantern room of the lighthouse tower. Learn how Lighthouse Keepers in the 1860’s to 2025 maintained the light. Includes a tour of the Lens Building, which houses our original first order Fresnel Lens, and the Boat House. Tour takes approximately 2 hours. $15 for FILPS Members/$25 for non-members – Reservations required. Limit 10 people.
